Child theme showing a blank page when activated and causing log-in problems

I'm not sure if that is what is causing the problems. I was redesigning an old blog I never used. I created a child theme and I started to modify things. I worked on that for a few days and suddenly, I started having problems to log in into my dashboard. I contacted bluehost's tech support and they fixed it by re-naming my plugins and child theme folder. I activated all the plugins again, and as long as the child theme is not active everything works ok. But as soon as I activate it I start getting the same error again. So I deleted all the files I have modified and just left a basic Style.css with this code:

 Theme Name:   Scrawl Child
 Theme URI:
 Description:  Scrawl Child Theme
 Author:       Automattic (Caroline Moore)
 Author URI:
 Template:     scrawl
 Version:      1.0.0
 License: GNU General Public License v2 or later
 License URI:
 Tags:         clean, light, simple, blog, responsive, blog, custom-background, custom-colors, custom-menu, flexible-header, featured-images, editor-style, post-formats, one-column, rtl-language-support, theme-options, sticky-post, translation-ready
 Text Domain:  scrawl-child
.slide-menu .site-title {
    font-size: 32px !important;
    font-size: 2.8rem !important;

.site-title {
    line-height: 2;

and a function.php file with this code:

add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'enqueue_parent_styles' );
function enqueue_parent_styles() {
    wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri().'/style.css' );

And is still not working! At some point I tried to fix the login by modifying the wp-config.php file and replacing the Authentication Unique Keys and Salts following instructions I read somewhere. Other than that I haven't touched anything else. And I can still log in as long as the child theme is not active

The error I get is:

ERROR: Cookies are blocked due to unexpected output. For help, please see this documentation or try the support forums.

or simply a blank page after I have inputed my user name and password, or when I tried to log-out, or when I want to preview a post... pretty much all the time. Usually reloading the page fixs it, but is annoying.

I have also tested everything from a different browser and a different computer.

I was thinking about reinstalling wordpress. As I'm writing this I'm making a backup and preparing everything, but I read somewhere that reinstalling should be the last option...

Any suggestion?
