Database schema change tracking

We are currently using MySQL for our Back-end and what we do to track database changes on development that will eventually be applied to our production environment is done manually. By manual I mean copying the the alter/insert statement to a file and then executing that on the production environment when we deploy.

Is there a better way or automated way to do this? Like GitHub, you can track changes on your code, is there a similar application where we can track changes on Database schema? We do not need to track data, just the structure of the database.
