Proper way to keep static assets updated

I'm writing a static website (only frontend) that will be hosted on AWS. The main component of the website is the image gallery, which displays images that are stored in a folder on the frontend.

For a static website, what is the proper way to transfer new images to the hosted instance in order to update the website with new images? I know there's FTP, and I've also heard of some software programs that can transfer assets onto AWS.
