Ubuntu wifi adapter (18.04.1 LTS)

I built my first PC a couple of days ago with a fair bit of help from a friend, so I'll try to describe my problem as best I can, but I am still getting my head around things.

I have an ASUS X99 Deluxe 2 MOBO which came with an ASUS 3t3r dual band wifi moving antenna. The PC posted fine on Ubuntu (18.04.1 LTS), and I have connected the wifi adapter. However, I am not able to connect to my wifi and I have the error message "no wifi adapter found".

I have tried so many different things from this forum board (e.g. Installing Broadcom Wireless Drivers) and further afield, at this point I am confused what to do next.

Any suggestions or advice are welcome! Thanks.
