Ubuntu 18 and proprietary NVidia drivers

Just built a user's system as 18 (18.04), and I need to install the proprietary NVidia drivers, because they're using CUDA.

HOWEVER, NVida's website only has drivers for 16, 17.04, and 17.10. I d/l the one for 16, and apt install says "Nope".

Note that I'm not willing to use the PPA repo directly, as this is for a US federal gov't agency, and I really don't want to install a malware-laced driver. (No insult intended, but that happens.)

Pointers to what I can/should install?

Thanks in advance.

I guess you can download it from here: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/137211/en-us

It is not specifically for Ubuntu though. You will only get that from the PPA.
