GDAL WARP where geotif goes from west to east hemisphere

I'm using gdalwarp to reproject an elevation geotif downloaded from http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/SRT-ZIP/SRTM_V41/SRTM_Data_GeoTiff/srtm_70_22.zip

Using the following command

gdalwarp -s_srs EPSG:4326 -t_srs EPSG:3785 -r bilinear srtm_70_22.tif 70-22.tif

Other files work fine, but the re-projected file ends up 8605px wide, and 151px high, with the terrain info only present at the far east.

I think this file hits 180deg East, and it's treating it as 180deg west - and giving me a tile that spans the globe.

Is there a way of telling gdalwarp not to do this?
