Data pre-processing for species distribution modeling

I want to create a species distribution model using MaxEnt in R. All my predictors now have the same extent & resolution. Before I run my analysis, I have read that it's a good practice to pre-process some of the data. My question is: Is there a general recipe for doing so?

In Dormann 2011 it is suggested to transform the data if not uniformly distributed, Hist() of my predictors at all presence points gives something like this:

I welcome any suggestions/links to what steps are commonly used to pre-process data before running a MaxEnt analysis.
