How do I write proofs for these statements? (Discrete Mathematics)

(i) If p^3 is odd then p is odd.

(ii) If you are given 53 digits then at least one of the digits repeats 6 or more times. Here digits are from {0, 1, 2, 3, ... ,9}.

I've been trying for so long but I can't even think of where to begin.
