Solving ODE via numerical integration

I am trying to (numerically) solve an ODE of the form

$$ \frac{dg}{dx} = \frac{\Big (f(x) - g(x) \Big ) \times g(x)}{\beta} $$

Where $f(x)$ and $\beta$ are known. In reality, $f(x)$ is a time series and I want to develop the corresponding time series $g(x)$. Similar work was done in this paper but I'm struggling to set this problem up to solve in e.g. R's deSolve package. Can anyone assist?
