How to know if a lens will work for my camera

by Ja_cpp   Last Updated December 09, 2017 18:18 PM

I've a camera like those in here and I want to buy a new lens for it from here for example which has a fixed parameters (focal length, aperture..etc).

So my question is how can I know if that lens will work for my camera beside the sensor format or aperture range which are easy to define?

I think the main issue is to get it on the right focal length. That is, in which distance I should fix my lens to get a clear image.

I'm using those cameras for computer vision purpose and I'm not a photographer so any calculations or demonstrations are appreciated.
