Can ground flaxseed be added to boiling water? Or does this change its nutrient composition in any way?
(Flaxseed oil oxidizes very quickly, when exposed to air and temperature)
Looking ONLY for reliable sources: scientists and such.
Found a possible answer 20 minutes after posting the question (but if there are more reliable sources, I'd like to see them):
The best way to incorporate flaxseed into your diet is by adding 1 to 4 tablespoons of ground flaxseed to your snacks and meals each day. Flaxseed has a light, nutty taste that can be added to any number of foods. Try mixing 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed into yogurt, or hot or cold breakfast cereal.
which seems to say that heating ground flaxseed to boiling temperatures before consuming it is OK.
