Adding bones to an armature, and preserving their vertex groups/weights

Let's say I have "Model 1" and "Model 2". Model 2 has a near-identical armature to Model 1 (almost every bone has the same name), but Model 2's armature has a few different bones that I wish to transfer over to Model 1's armature, with the same vertex groups/weights (or, at least as close as they can be to it on Model 1's topology) that they had on Model 2's. Is there any way to do this?
