I understand there is a bit out there on this issue, but none of the solutions are working for me.
I have a Galaxy S7 and up until 3 weeks ago I had 2 emails accounts (gmail and outlook exchange) in my Samsung Email app that synced perfectly. Then all of a sudden, they both stopped syncing on wifi. They sync perfectly when I use my mobile data, but this is not ideal and I cannot see a reason for this change.
The sync schedule is set to "auto", and the sync account option is set to "on" in the email settings. I tried to clear email cache, and force quit--> this did nothing. For the gmail account, the IMAP is enabled. It was recommend that I change the gmail setting for "access to less secure apps" be turned on. But this also did not work out for me.
Lastly, I deleted the gmail account and tried to re-add the account. When I do this, I get the error message, "Unable to verify account information, The email server (imap.gmail.com) is not responding. You can continue the setup process, but you will not be able to send or receive email until your account has been verified by the server". Another suggestion on the web was to go through with the manual setup process, I did this and now Email throws this same error every 15 minutes when it tries to sync.
What I would like: to have both accounts in Email, syncing on wifi. It is also important to note that the Gmail app, while slow, syncs on wifi. Also, my phone has been updated a few days ago.
